I’m The Girl I Want To Be

What is I’m the Girl I Want To be about?

I’m The Girl I Want To Be is our innovative and creative course for young women aged 11-18. It provides an opportunity for girls to get together, form great friendships, share opinions and talk about all the issues that affect and interest us everyday... self-esteem, relationships, media, fashion, sex, being single, our dreams for the future, feeling great about ourselves and lots more.

This 8 week course, delivered and led by Golddigger Trust's team of friendly and experienced female youth workers, is designed to be a place for girls to explore different opinions and gives them space to make up their own mind about these matters - so that they’ll finish the course being sure that they can be the girl they want to be!

With hundreds of girls having taken part in the course in South Yorkshire alone, the I'm The Girl I Want To Be course has seen many lives changed, with over 90% of participants noting a "significant improvement in their self esteem" in the last 2 years.

  • “Before this course I had no confidence and constantly compared myself to others. Now I am more confident in myself and have learnt I am unique and special.”

  • “On I’m The Girl I Want To Be I learnt that everyone goes through similar situation and emotions! Learning to be happy with yourself isn’t something that happens overnight!”

  • “I gained the knowledge of learning it’s ok to be different. Loving myself is important and I should learn to take care of myself. Trying not to overthink situations and realise it’s okay to not be perfect and please everyone as I’m my own person. Also learning that I shouldn’t be pressured into things that make me feel uncomfortable.”
